Problem Note 31296: Columns might import as currency instead of character using SAS® Enterprise Guide®
Certain character columns might be imported as currency instead of character. This problem will most likely occur when a portion of the values in the column begin with either 'FF', 'DM', or 'TL', for example.
The problem occurs because the Microsoft Jet Engine interprets the values as European, Asian, and Persian currency, for example. To circumvent the problem when using the Import Data task, choose the Column Options tab and change the Type to Character, and change the Display and Read-in formats to None.
